XPEL, Inc. (XPEL) · Nov 4, 2026 · Earnings
Miss — Diluted EPS $0.59 vs ~$0.60 consensus; revenue $137.8M vs ~$138.6M
XPEL’s Q3 earnings land just below consensus, but stronger gross margins and rapid China growth support its manufacturing strategy.
XPEL is shifting from a primarily outsourced protective-film model toward in-house manufacturing in San Antonio and China, with roughly $110 million of planned manufacturing and supply-chain investment. The strategy was already known; the new information is whether the early operating payoff is appearing. The company’s China facility supports a rapidly growing market, while San Antonio is intended to improve North American production economics.
The quarter was narrowly below the earnings bar, not a clean beat. Revenue reached $137.8 million and diluted EPS was $0.59, both slightly below published expectations of roughly $138.6 million and $0.60. That still landed inside the company’s prior Q3 revenue outlook of approximately $137 million to $139 million, so the miss is small rather than a breakdown in execution.
| Metric | Q3 2026 | Q3 2025 | Consensus |
|---|---|---|---|
| Revenue (Financial Highlights) | $137.8M (-$0.8M) | $125.4M | ~$138.6M |
| Gross margin (Financial Highlights) | 44.6% (+280 bps) | 41.8% | |
| Diluted EPS (Income Statement) | $0.59 (+25.5%) | $0.47 | ~$0.60 |
| China revenue (Segment results) | $15.4M (+52.4%) | $10.1M | |
| Operating cash flow (Cash Flow statement) | $21.1M (-36.4%) | $33.2M |
The underlying margin trend is the strongest part of the release. Gross margin expanded to 44.6% from 41.8%, while EBITDA margin rose to 18.6% from 15.9%; that is evidence the manufacturing investments are beginning to improve economics even before the new facilities reach full capacity. 〔0〕
Growth is increasingly international, especially in China, but not uniformly global. China revenue rose 52.4% and Asia-Pacific grew 38.7%, partially offsetting declines in India and the Middle East and a slight decline across the EU, UK, and Africa. That supports the strategic rationale for the China manufacturing investment, although North America—the company’s largest region—grew only 8.6%. 〔1〕
Cash generation is the main counterweight. Operating cash flow fell 36.4% year over year, while nine-month capital spending reached $76.7 million versus $2.9 million a year earlier. XPEL funded the investment partly with $44.8 million of new debt and ended September with $42.6 million of long-term debt, meaning the margin payoff still has to justify a much heavier capital base.
Bottom line: XPEL slightly missed the quarterly consensus, but the more important business signal is that margins are expanding as its manufacturing buildout progresses. The event is mixed overall, leaning positive because the strategic investment is showing early operating benefits rather than merely adding cost.
