Beat — Adjusted EPS $1.35 vs ~$1.19 consensus
NCR Atleos earnings beat the published EPS consensus as margins, cash flow and leverage improved despite declining quarterly revenue.
Atleos is trying to shift its ATM business toward service-led, recurring revenue and ATM-as-a-service while preparing to combine with Brink’s in early 2027. That backdrop matters because this quarter shows the company monetizing the installed base better, but not yet reigniting top-line growth; the business model is improving faster than demand.
The earnings beat is real, driven by profitability rather than growth. Adjusted diluted EPS was $1.35 versus a published consensus of roughly $1.19, while Adjusted EBITDA rose 10% year over year to $241 million and margin expanded to 21.9% from 19.5%. The filing attributes the result to service and software growth plus productivity gains, saying, “We have been able to deliver strong financial results with year-over-year Adjusted EBITDA and EPS growth of 10% and 24%, respectively.” 〔0〕
| Q3 2026 | Q3 2025 | Consensus / comparison | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Revenue (Financial Highlights) | $1,099M (-2%) | $1,121M | |
| Adjusted EBITDA (Financial Highlights) | $241M (+10%) | $219M | |
| Adjusted diluted EPS (Non-GAAP reconciliation) | $1.35 (+24%) | $1.09 | ~$1.19 consensus |
| Adjusted free cash flow (Free Cash Flow reconciliation) | $156M (+26%) | $124M | |
| Net leverage (Net leverage table) | 2.47x (-0.52x) | 2.99x |
Revenue is the unresolved weakness. Consolidated revenue fell 2% year over year, with product revenue down to $243 million from $274 million, while service revenue increased only 1% to $856 million. Management explicitly cited customers delaying purchases while they wait for solutions tied to the combined Atleos-Brink’s offering, along with geopolitical disruption. “Atleos delivered strong third quarter profit growth and a very good first nine months of 2026 despite revenue challenges from the war in the Middle East and some customers delaying buying decisions in anticipation of the combined companies new solutions.” 〔1〕
The recurring-revenue transition is progressing, but only gradually. Self-Service Banking annualized recurring revenue increased to $1.742 billion from $1.712 billion, and recurring revenue reached 59% of Self-Service Banking revenue versus 57% a year ago. ATMaaS revenue also rose to $83 million from $67 million, supporting the longer-term mix shift even as total quarterly revenue declined.
Cash generation and debt reduction strengthen the merger setup. Operating cash flow rose sharply to $198 million from $27 million, adjusted free cash flow reached $156 million, and net leverage declined to 2.47x from 2.99x. That gives Atleos more balance-sheet flexibility ahead of the Brink’s combination, although the cash figures include adjustments for legal settlements, indemnification payments and other items rather than representing a clean operating-only comparison.
The Brink’s update is confirmation, not a fresh catalyst. Atleos now says the transaction is expected to close in early January 2027, while prior transaction materials already pointed to a first-quarter 2027 closing, so the timing is more specific but not a fundamental change. The filing states, “The transaction is now expected to close in early January 2027 and the integration planning efforts confirm the rationale for the merger.” 〔2〕
Bottom line: Atleos beat the available EPS expectation through margin expansion, stronger cash flow and lower leverage, but the core demand picture is still soft. It modestly advances the business story; it does not yet prove that the Brink’s-related growth opportunity has arrived.
