Beat — Diluted EPS $0.14 vs ~$0.09 consensus; revenue $180.3M vs ~$165.7M
BioCryst earnings beat Q3 expectations, while higher licensing revenue and cost cuts lift 2026 guidance despite unchanged ORLADEYO targets.
BioCryst entered the quarter as an ORLADEYO-led rare-disease company shifting toward external innovation, with navenibart in Phase 3, BCX17725 in Phase 1, and the Birmingham research operation being closed to lower its cost base. That strategic direction was already public before this report.
The quarter beat a relatively modest consensus bar by a wide margin. Total revenue reached $180.3 million versus a published consensus of roughly $165.7 million, while diluted EPS was $0.14 versus about $0.09 expected. Revenue rose 13% year over year, and ORLADEYO revenue increased to $174.8 million from $159.1 million.
| Figure | Current | Comparison 1 | Comparison 2 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Total revenue (Financial Summary) | $180.3M | $159.4M | ~$165.7M consensus |
| Diluted EPS (Statements of Operations) | $0.14 | $0.06 | ~$0.09 consensus |
| ORLADEYO revenue (Financial Summary) | $174.8M | $159.1M | |
| FY26 total revenue guide (Financial Outlook) | $715M-$730M | $690M-$715M | |
| FY26 ORLADEYO guide (Financial Outlook) | $625M-$645M | $625M-$645M | |
| FY26 non-GAAP operating expense guide (Financial Outlook) | $415M-$425M | $420M-$440M |
The more important change is the second consecutive upgrade to the broader 2026 outlook. BioCryst lifted total revenue guidance to $715 million-$730 million from $690 million-$715 million and lowered non-GAAP operating-expense guidance to $415 million-$425 million from $420 million-$440 million. But the core ORLADEYO forecast was unchanged at $625 million-$645 million, so the upgrade is not evidence of a higher drug-sales target. The company attributed the revenue increase mainly to navenibart licensing revenue and higher RAPIVAB orders.
Profitability improved sharply, though the revenue quality deserves some separation. GAAP operating profit rose to $53.3 million from $29.6 million, while non-GAAP operating profit reached $86.5 million from $50.8 million. The CareMed specialty-pharmacy transition helped quarterly revenue because CareMed built initial ORLADEYO inventory; management expects that inventory to remain broadly stable, meaning some of the reported benefit may reflect channel timing rather than entirely new patient demand. 〔0〕
The report supports the cost-reset story but does not remove the pipeline risk. Birmingham closure work remains on track, with roughly $30 million-$35 million of expected annualized savings once fully realized, while navenibart pivotal results are still targeted for the third quarter of 2027 and BCX17725 data for year-end 2026. 〔1〕 The quarter generated positive cash flow and left cash, cash equivalents, restricted cash and investments at $376.4 million, but the balance sheet still carried a $395.6 million secured term loan and a $421.7 million royalty financing obligation.
Bottom line: This is a clear execution beat with another improvement in the cost and total-revenue outlook. It strengthens BioCryst’s commercial and self-funding story, but the unchanged ORLADEYO guide and reliance on licensing, RAPIVAB and some channel inventory timing keep it from being a full rewrite of the business case.
