Mixed results — Adjusted EPS $0.14 vs ~$0.16 consensus
Vishay Precision Group earnings show stronger demand and bookings, but weaker profit, Weighing revenue, and margins complicate the recovery.
VPG is trying to turn precision sensing into a growth platform tied to semiconductors, data centers, aerospace and defense, while preparing for a future humanoid-robot production ramp. Its prior-quarter story already featured strong bookings, AI-related sensor demand and a growing backlog, so this filing is mainly a test of whether demand is converting into profitable growth.
Demand was better than expected, but the profit conversion was not. Adjusted revenue of $87.4 million modestly exceeded the published consensus of roughly $86.5 million, while adjusted diluted EPS of $0.14 came in below consensus near $0.16. The operating picture is therefore mixed: orders exceeded $100 million and book-to-bill reached 1.17, but adjusted earnings fell to $1.8 million from $3.9 million a year earlier.
Sensors is carrying the growth story, while Weighing Solutions is the clear drag. Sensors revenue rose 21.3% year over year to $38.4 million, with record bookings tied partly to semiconductor equipment, data centers and fiber optics. Measurement Systems also grew 7.6% and expanded gross margin to 56.5%. By contrast, Weighing Solutions adjusted revenue fell 2.2% year over year and 11.3% sequentially, while its adjusted gross margin fell to 34.6% from 40.3% a year earlier.
The earnings shortfall is partly explainable, but not entirely dismissible. Unfavorable currency reduced third-quarter operating income by $3.4 million, and the 48% adjusted tax rate reduced diluted EPS by $0.03. Even excluding those items, however, adjusted EPS was down from $0.30 last year, while higher manufacturing costs and weaker product mix pressured segment profitability.
| Q3 2026 | Q3 2025 | Consensus | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Adjusted revenue (Financial highlights) | $87.4M (+9.6%) | $79.7M | $86.5M |
| Adjusted diluted EPS (Financial highlights) | $0.14 | $0.30 | $0.16 |
| Sensors revenue (Segment results — Sensors) | $38.4M (+21.3%) | $31.6M | |
| Weighing adjusted revenue (Segment results — Weighing Solutions) | $26.9M (-2.2%) | $27.5M | |
| Consolidated book-to-bill (Management commentary) | 1.17 | ||
| Q4 revenue guidance (Outlook) | $84M–$91M |
Bottom line: VPG’s demand engine is improving, especially in Sensors and AI-linked applications, but the quarter did not yet convert that demand into stronger earnings. The filing modestly advances the growth story while leaving margin execution and Weighing Solutions as unresolved weaknesses.
