Comscore, Inc. (SCOR) · Nov 3, 2026 · Earnings
Miss — GAAP EPS $(4.26) vs roughly $(0.43) consensus
Comscore earnings show the ROI turnaround underway, but weaker revenue, margins and cash flow leave the recovery unproven.
Comscore is a shrinking media-measurement business trying to simplify around cross-platform products after selling its Movies unit and launching an ROI restructuring plan. The plan was already public: management targeted $20–$25 million of annual run-rate savings while redirecting investment toward cross-platform intelligence, activation, creator and AI products.
The quarter still missed on operating performance. Revenue fell 4.1% even after adjusting for the divested Movies business, while adjusted EBITDA dropped nearly 47% and its margin fell to 7.6% from 12.4%. That is the key read-through: the cost reset has begun, but it has not yet stabilized the underlying business.
| Metric | Q3 2026 | Q3 2025 | Comparison |
|---|---|---|---|
| Revenue (Financial Highlights) | $76.2M (-14.3%) | $88.9M | $79.4M pro forma |
| Adjusted EBITDA (Reconciliation) | $5.8M (-47.3%) | $11.0M | |
| Adjusted EBITDA margin (Reconciliation) | 7.6% (-4.8 pts) | 12.4% | |
| Cash, cash equivalents and restricted cash (Cash Flow statement) | $19.5M (-34.8%) | $29.9M |
The headline net loss is partly accounting noise, but the underlying deterioration is not. The $57.3 million goodwill impairment and $5.5 million restructuring charge drove the $65.5 million GAAP loss, so the loss itself overstates the quarter’s cash damage. But even after excluding those items, adjusted EBITDA declined sharply, research and insight revenue fell 13.9%, and syndicated audience revenue remained weak beyond the discontinued Movies contribution.
The balance sheet is cleaner, but liquidity remains thin. ComScore repaid its senior secured credit facility, leaving only finance-lease obligations, and received $55.7 million of net divestiture proceeds during the first nine months. However, cash ended the quarter at just $19.5 million, operating cash generation fell to $5.7 million from $19.5 million, and the company is still spending cash to execute the restructuring. 〔0〕
Management preserved the turnaround timetable rather than raising the bar. Full-year revenue guidance of $315–$325 million and low-to-mid-single-digit adjusted EBITDA margin guidance were unchanged, as was the $20–$25 million savings target. That avoids an additional guidance cut, but it is not an upside surprise; the proof point has moved to whether savings translate into stable core revenue and better margins in 2027.
Bottom line: ComScore is executing the restructuring and has removed its term debt, but Q3 shows the core business still contracting while profitability weakens. The turnaround remains plausible, not demonstrated, making this a modest operating miss rather than a reset of the story.
