AMD earnings beat as AI data-center revenue nearly doubles

Beat — Non-GAAP EPS $2.09 vs ~$1.95 consensus

AMD’s Q3 earnings beat expectations as data-center revenue nearly doubled and Q4 guidance pointed to another sharp acceleration.

AMD entered this quarter in the middle of an AI-infrastructure ramp, with Helios rack-scale systems, MI450 accelerators and next-generation EPYC processors already central to its data-center strategy. The filing shows that ramp is now translating into much larger reported revenue, not just product announcements.

The quarter beat the market’s bar, not merely AMD’s own framing. Non-GAAP EPS was $2.09 versus a published consensus near $1.95, while revenue reached $13.377 billion versus roughly $13.1 billion expected. AMD also said third-quarter revenue exceeded the high end of its own guidance.

MetricQ3 2026Q3 2025Consensus
Revenue ($M) (Summary P&L)$13,377 (+45%)$9,246~$13,100
Non-GAAP diluted EPS (Non-GAAP P&L)$2.09 (+74%)$1.20~$1.95
Data Center revenue ($M) (Segment results)$8,546 (+97%)$4,341
Client & Gaming revenue ($M) (Segment results)$3,722 (-8%)$4,048
Q4 revenue outlook (Financial Outlook)$17,000 ±3%

Data Center is now the dominant engine of the business. Revenue nearly doubled year over year to $8.5 billion, and segment operating income rose 168% to $2.9 billion. The combination of EPYC demand, MI450 launches and early Helios deployments suggests AMD is moving from a product-positioning story into meaningful AI-system revenue.

The Q4 outlook reinforces acceleration rather than a one-quarter spike. AMD expects approximately $17 billion of revenue, implying about 27% sequential growth and 66% year-over-year growth at the midpoint, while non-GAAP gross margin is expected to remain near 55%. That keeps the near-term story centered on scaling Helios and “Venice,” although the margin outlook is slightly below Q3’s 56% non-GAAP level.

The weakness is concentrated in gaming, not the broader compute portfolio. Client and Gaming revenue fell 8%, with gaming revenue down 40% and segment operating income down 34%; higher Ryzen client sales only partly offset lower semi-custom and graphics demand. Embedded was a counterweight, growing 29% with operating income up 60%, but the company is increasingly dependent on data-center execution for its growth profile.

Bottom line: This was a meaningful beat that strengthens AMD’s AI and data-center transition, with Q4 guidance signaling further acceleration. The business is advancing clearly, but the result also makes the consumer-gaming decline and execution of the Helios ramp more important to the story.
