Flywire earnings beat as FY26 guidance rises on margin gains

Beat — RLAS $244.5M vs $230M guide; revenue $250.3M vs ~$233.3M consensus

Flywire’s Q3 earnings beat internal targets and revenue consensus, while FY26 guidance rose as adjusted EBITDA margins expanded.

Flywire is scaling a verticalized global payments and software platform across education, travel, healthcare and B2B, with education still the seasonal anchor and newer travel and student-financial products broadening the growth base. Its prior Q3 framework called for 16–22% FX-neutral Revenue Less Ancillary Services growth and 100–300 basis points of adjusted EBITDA margin expansion; the quarter landed well above that range, while the company also raised its full-year outlook.

The operating beat was broad, not just a tax-driven headline. Revenue Less Ancillary Services reached $244.5 million, up 26.0% year over year, while adjusted EBITDA rose 39.2% to $79.5 million and margin expanded to 32.5%. The filing explicitly says, "Revenue Less Ancillary Services increased 26.0% to $244.5million in the Third quarter of 2026, compared to $194.1million in the Third quarter of 2025."

MetricQ3 2026Q3 2025Guide / consensus
Revenue (Financial Statements)$250.3M (+25.1%)$200.1M~$233.3M consensus
Revenue Less Ancillary Services (Non-GAAP reconciliation)$244.5M (+26.0%)$194.1M$230.0M guide
Adjusted EBITDA (EBITDA reconciliation)$79.5M (+39.2%)$57.1M~$72.0M guide
Adjusted EBITDA margin (EBITDA reconciliation)32.5% (+310 bps)29.4%+200 bps guide
Gross margin (Non-GAAP reconciliation)61.0% (-130 bps)62.3%

The result clears both the company’s own bar and the published revenue expectation. RLAS was $15 million above the guide midpoint, growth was roughly 700 basis points ahead of plan, and adjusted EBITDA was about $8 million above target. Reported revenue of $250.3 million also exceeded the published consensus of roughly $233.3 million. The margin result is especially important because Flywire is absorbing payment-processing ramps while still producing operating leverage. The filing says, "Adjusted EBITDA increased 39.2% to $79.5million in the Third quarter of 2026, compared to $57.1million in the Third quarter of 2025."

Management raised the forward view, turning a good quarter into a stronger business signal. FY2026 FX-neutral RLAS growth guidance moved to 25–27%, up from the prior 21–27% range, while adjusted EBITDA margin expansion moved to 300–360 basis points from 200–400 basis points. That is not a wholesale reset, but it says the upside is now being carried into the plan despite weaker visa assumptions in several major education markets. The company also pointed to strength in U.K. education and travel, larger enterprise wins, and continued SFS expansion as offsets. Management stated, "With strong execution across all verticals, we are raising our full-year 2026 outlook across revenue growth and adjusted EBITDA margin expansion." 〔0〕

The GAAP profit headline overstates the underlying improvement. Net income was $74.5 million, but it included a roughly $39 million non-cash tax benefit from releasing the U.S. valuation allowance, which the company says will not recur. The cleaner read is therefore the adjusted EBITDA and cash-generation performance, not the reported EPS jump. The filing cautions, "The Company does not expect a benefit of this nature or size to recur in future periods, and third quarter 2026 net income is not indicative of future results." 〔1〕

The board resignation is secondary to the earnings signal. Alex Finkelstein’s departure reduces the board from ten directors to nine and was described as unrelated to any dispute; Sabrina Farmer’s previously announced appointment adds technology and infrastructure experience. It does not materially change the operating story in this filing.

Bottom line: Flywire delivered a genuine operating beat, not merely a tax-assisted profit spike, and raised its full-year outlook. The event strengthens the current growth-and-margin-expansion story, although the GAAP earnings headline should be discounted for the one-time tax benefit.
