$48M purchase commitment — $4M monthly minimum through September 2027
SurgePays announced a $48M prepaid wireless agreement with Etime system. The deal expands POS volume, but its earnings impact depends on the undisclosed take rate.
SurgePays is shifting toward a scaled prepaid-wireless and payments platform: its POS business serves more than 9,000 stores, while management has targeted more than $10 million in monthly transactions by year-end. The company’s latest reported quarter also showed revenue growth led by Point-of-Sale and Prepaid Services, making this agreement relevant to the core strategy rather than a side business.
The agreement adds real, contracted volume to the POS platform. Etime system committed to at least $4 million of prepaid airtime, top-up and refill transactions per month, or $48 million over the initial October 1, 2026–September 30, 2027 term; transactions had already begun in October.
The strategic signal is better than the headline earnings impact. The commitment validates SurgePays’ existing infrastructure and supports the company’s effort to grow transaction volume without building a new operating platform. It also fits the recent trend of POS and prepaid services becoming the company’s main growth engine.
But $48 million is transaction volume, not $48 million of revenue. SurgePays explicitly says recognized net revenue and gross profit may be significantly lower, and the filing gives no take rate, margin, or expected incremental earnings. The monthly shortfall make-up provision and automatic renewal help the structure, but they do not eliminate partner-performance risk. 〔0〕
Bottom line: This is a modestly positive business development because it puts a meaningful new volume commitment behind SurgePays’ POS expansion. It strengthens the operating story, but the filing does not yet show how much profit the agreement will produce, so it does not rewrite the company’s financial outlook by itself.
