Co-CEO transition
BGC’s CEO change moves JP Aubin to vice chairman on December 31, preserving the three-leader operating structure while narrowing his role.
BGC is in an expansion and technology-building phase: after replacing Howard Lutnick with a three-person CEO structure in February 2025, it is growing brokerage while scaling electronic platforms including FMX. JP Aubin has been a central operator in that story, particularly across EMEA, listed products, and digital platforms.
This is an orderly reduction in executive responsibility, not an abrupt exit. Aubin will become vice chairman effective December 31, 2026 and step down as Co-CEO, EMEA CEO, and Co-Global Head of Financial Services Brokerage. 〔0〕 The move removes one of the leaders most associated with BGC’s European and listed-products franchises from day-to-day executive control, which creates some execution and succession risk.
Continuity is the main offset. John Abularrage and Sean Windeatt will continue as Co-CEOs overseeing all regions and businesses, while Aubin remains involved as a direct report to them. 〔1〕 The filing also explicitly says the strategy is unchanged. 〔2〕 That makes this more of a planned succession adjustment than a strategic reset.
The timing and retained role soften the change, but do not erase its importance. Aubin only became Co-CEO in February 2025, so this filing shortens his tenure in the top operating role; however, the company is retaining his market relationships and institutional knowledge in a senior position. 〔3〕
Bottom line: BGC is changing one of its three CEOs without changing its stated strategy or operating leadership structure. It modestly complicates the succession story, but the retained role and continued Abularrage-Windeatt leadership keep this from looking like a business-model disruption.
Aubin transition effective December 31, 2026
