XPLR Infrastructure earnings miss as 2026 guidance slips low

Miss — EPS $0.54 vs ~$1.10 published estimate; revenue $332M vs ~$352M

XPLR Infrastructure earnings show higher revenue but weaker cash flow, with 2026 guidance drifting low and 2027 expectations below the current-year range.

XPLR Infrastructure is a contracted clean-energy owner in the middle of a capital-allocation reset: it is repowering its wind fleet, simplifying its financing structure, and using interconnection-asset sales to fund battery-storage growth with NextEra. Its 2026 plan was previously $1.75-$1.95 billion of adjusted EBITDA and $600-$700 million of FCFBG.

The quarter was weaker on the cash-flow measures that matter most. Revenue rose from $315 million to $332 million, and adjusted EBITDA increased modestly to $471 million, but FCFBG fell to $164 million from $179 million as cash interest rose to $147 million from $128 million. The published third-quarter estimates available before the filing were roughly $352 million of revenue and $1.10 of EPS, putting the reported $0.54 per-unit result and revenue below that external bar.

Q3 2026Q3 2025Consensus
Revenue (Income Statement)$332M (+5.4%)$315M$352M
EPS attributable to XPLR (Income Statement)$0.54$(0.40)$1.10
Adjusted EBITDA (Adjusted EBITDA reconciliation)$471M (+3.5%)$455M
FCFBG (Adjusted EBITDA reconciliation)$164M (-8.4%)$179M

Management preserved the 2026 range but lowered the quality of the outlook. The partnership now expects adjusted EBITDA in the lower half of its existing range and FCFBG at or near the low end, which is effectively a directional downgrade even though the formal range remains unchanged.

The newly introduced 2027 outlook adds the bigger concern. Adjusted EBITDA of $1.56-$1.70 billion and FCFBG of $525-$600 million are below the 2026 guidance ranges, while management expects 2028 FCFBG merely to be in line with 2027. That suggests the portfolio's near-term earnings and cash-generation profile is not yet inflecting upward despite the repowering and storage investments.

Execution is progressing, but it does not offset the weaker financial trajectory. XPLR says it has completed about 85% of planned 2026 repowerings, sold roughly 400 megawatts of interconnection assets and rights, and retired its remaining 2026 unsecured notes. Those actions support capital flexibility, but they are operational milestones rather than evidence that cash generation is accelerating. 〔0〕

Bottom line: This is a modestly negative earnings update: the quarter missed the available published bar, cash flow declined, and management is guiding 2026 toward the bottom of its range while setting a lower 2027 baseline. The financing and repowering work is advancing, but the core cash-generation story has weakened rather than improved.
