Beat — Non-GAAP EPS $1.98 vs ~$1.65–$1.79 consensus
Hamilton Lane earnings show a sharp adjusted EPS beat but revenue below consensus, with recurring fee growth and higher fee-earning assets supporting the core business.
Hamilton Lane is scaling a private-markets asset-management platform through specialized funds, separate accounts and advisory services, with recurring fees providing the base and incentive fees creating earnings volatility. Its fee-earning AUM reached $85.9 billion, while total assets under management and advisement reached $1.08 trillion.
The quarter was a clear adjusted-EPS beat, but not a clean revenue beat. Non-GAAP EPS was $1.98, above published estimates ranging from roughly $1.65 to $1.79, while reported total revenue of $204.4 million was below estimates around $215 million to $226 million. That makes the scorecard a beat on earnings but a mixed operating result overall.
| Metric | Q2 FY27 | Q2 FY26 | Consensus / prior |
|---|---|---|---|
| Non-GAAP EPS (Non-GAAP EPS reconciliation) | $1.98 (+29%) | $1.54 | ~$1.65–$1.79 |
| Total revenue (Condensed Statements of Income) | $204.4M (+7%) | $190.9M | ~$215.2–$225.6M |
| Fee Related Earnings (Non-GAAP Financial Measures) | $90.8M (+18%) | $77.0M | |
| Fee-earning AUM (Assets Under Management) | $85.9B (+12%) | $76.4B | |
| Annual dividend target (Dividend) | $2.40 (+11%) | $2.16 |
The underlying fee engine improved materially. Six-month Fee Related Earnings rose 34% to $215.2 million and the margin expanded to 52% from 50%, while management and advisory fees increased 18% year over year. The more durable part of the business is therefore tracking well even though consolidated revenue growth was held back by uneven incentive-fee timing.
The revenue miss reflects mix and timing more than a breakdown in demand. Incentive fees fell 17% in the quarter, but six-month incentive fees were still up 70%, and fee-earning AUM grew 12% year over year. Specialized-fund management fees rose 27% year to date, while customized separate-account fees declined 2%, showing that growth is concentrated rather than broad-based. 〔0〕
Capital returns strengthened modestly, but this was not a new strategic reset. Hamilton Lane maintained the $0.60 quarterly dividend and set a $2.40 full-year target, an 11% increase from the prior fiscal year. That reinforces confidence in cash generation, but the quarterly payout itself was already established, so the dividend adds limited incremental surprise.
Bottom line: This was a modestly positive quarter for the business: core recurring earnings, margins and fee-earning assets advanced, but consolidated revenue missed expectations and incentive fees remain lumpy. The filing strengthens the operating story without rewriting it.
