Aehr Test Systems earnings beat as AI backlog lifts guidance

Beat — non-GAAP EPS $0.28 vs ~$0.11 consensus; revenue $33.0M vs ~$27.6M

Aehr Test Systems earnings beat consensus as AI-driven bookings and backlog support a higher $150M fiscal 2027 revenue outlook.

Aehr is shifting from a cyclical semiconductor-test supplier toward an AI infrastructure beneficiary, with wafer-level and package-level burn-in systems moving into customer production ramps. The prior setup already included a $130M-$150M fiscal 2027 revenue outlook and roughly $100M of effective backlog, so the demand direction was known; the surprise is the speed of conversion into revenue and profit. The published pre-release consensus was about $27.6M of revenue and $0.11 of EPS.

The quarter was a clear beat, not just a recovery. Revenue reached $33.0M, up 200% year over year and 75% sequentially, while non-GAAP diluted EPS reached $0.28 versus roughly $0.11 expected. GAAP earnings also swung to $7.2M from a $2.1M loss a year earlier.

Q1 FY2027Q1 FY2026Consensus
Revenue (Financial Results)$33.0M (+200%)$11.0M$27.6M
Non-GAAP diluted EPS (GAAP to non-GAAP reconciliation)$0.28$0.01$0.11
GAAP diluted EPS (Statements of Operations)$0.21$(0.07)
Bookings (Financial Results)$46.7M
Effective backlog (Financial Results)$109.3M

Demand is translating into forward visibility. Bookings exceeded revenue by roughly 40%, producing a book-to-bill ratio of about 1.4, and effective backlog reached $109.3M by November 1. That matters because the prior AI thesis depended on customer production ramps becoming repeatable orders; this quarter shows both existing programs expanding and new programs advancing.

Guidance moved to the top of the old range, supported by better visibility. Aehr now expects $150M of fiscal 2027 revenue, versus its previous $130M-$150M range, while setting a floor of at least 20% for non-GAAP net-income margin. This is more than a routine reaffirmation: the company is effectively removing the low end of the prior range after a quarter that delivered ahead of the revenue and earnings bar.

The biggest upside remains potential, not booked revenue yet. A major AI processor supplier has decided to purchase a FOX-XP test cell for a Taiwan production evaluation, with high-volume production still dependent on installation and validation in early calendar 2027. Separately, a second AI processor completed Sonoma qualification and received follow-on orders, but the larger production forecast remains a customer expectation rather than firm disclosed revenue. 〔0〕

Cash conversion is the one soft spot in an otherwise unusually strong quarter. Cash, cash equivalents and restricted cash declined to $105.1M from $116.5M at fiscal 2026 year-end, and operating cash flow was negative $3.1M as receivables and inventory absorbed cash. That looks like growth-related working-capital investment rather than a demand problem, but it means the reported profit has not yet fully converted into cash.

Bottom line: This filing materially strengthens Aehr’s AI growth story: the company beat a low pre-release bar, expanded backlog, and raised revenue guidance to the top of its prior range. The next proof point is whether the new AI programs convert from evaluations and qualification into high-volume production orders in 2027.
