Lazard acquisition closes, launching $500M private-capital business

$500M acquisition — Approximately $500M estimated combined 2027 revenue; earnings accretive before synergies

Lazard completes its Campbell Lutyens acquisition and launches Lazard CL, combining private-capital capabilities with a 2027 revenue target of about $500 million.

Lazard is building private capital advisory into a third global business alongside financial advisory and asset management, using the Campbell Lutyens deal to broaden fundraising, secondaries, infrastructure, and private-credit coverage. The April 30 acquisition announcement already laid out the strategic rationale and approximately $500 million of estimated combined 2027 revenue, so today’s filing is mainly the planned closing and operational launch rather than a surprise.

The acquisition has moved from strategy to execution. Lazard completed the Campbell Lutyens purchase and launched Lazard CL as a standalone private-capital platform with more than 300 professionals across 19 offices.

The business is broader, but the financial payoff remains a 2027 promise. The combined platform adds coverage across primary fundraising, secondary advisory, and GP capital advisory, while Lazard keeps its approximately $500 million 2027 revenue expectation and says the business should be earnings-accretive before synergies.

The only incremental signal is modestly encouraging execution. Lazard says Campbell Lutyens is performing ahead of the assumptions used to underwrite the acquisition, but gives no updated revenue, margin, or earnings figure; that makes the disclosure directionally positive without proving that the original economics have been upgraded. 〔0〕

The structure limits immediate balance-sheet pressure but leaves integration and delivery as the test. Upfront consideration was paid primarily in Lazard stock, with portions locked up for as long as three years, aligning sellers with the combined business but also making successful retention and integration important to realizing the promised revenue diversification. 〔1〕

Bottom line: This is a clean execution milestone and a mildly better read because the acquired business is reportedly ahead of plan. But the core $500 million revenue target was already known, so the filing advances Lazard’s story without materially rewriting it.
