Federated Hermes, Inc. (FHI) · Oct 29, 2026 · Earnings
Beat — EPS $1.50 vs ~$1.43 consensus; revenue $507.3M vs ~$504.9M
Federated Hermes earnings narrowly beat Q3 expectations, with equity sales and FCP supporting revenue as money-market assets declined.
Federated Hermes is an active asset manager still anchored by a large money-market franchise while trying to grow higher-value equity and alternative/private-market products. Its current business mix remains roughly half money-market revenue and half long-term-asset revenue, with equity and alternative assets the main growth areas. The quarter beat a modest market bar. Q3 EPS of $1.50 exceeded the published consensus of about $1.43, while revenue of $507.3 million was slightly above roughly $504.9 million. | Metric (filing section) | Q3 2026 | Q3 2025 | Consensus / Q2 2026 |
| Revenue (Statements of Income) | $507.3M (+8%) | $469.4M | ~$504.9M |
|---|---|---|---|
| EPS (Statements of Income) | $1.50 (+12%) | $1.34 | ~$1.43 |
| Operating income (Statements of Income) | $153.3M (+18%) | $129.5M | |
| Net income (Statements of Income) | $111.9M (+7%) | $104.1M | $104.3M Q2 |
| Total managed assets (Managed Assets) | $884.4B (+2%) | $871.2B | $911.6B Q2 |
| Dividend per share (Statements of Income) | $0.38 | $0.34 | $0.38 Q2 |
The underlying operating result was better than the headline EPS beat. Revenue rose 8% and operating income jumped 18%, helped by higher average equity assets and the FCP acquisition. The acquisition also lifted compensation costs, but sequential operating expenses fell 4% as Q2 acquisition-related costs rolled off. The growth mix is improving, but not cleanly yet. Equity assets reached a record $110.5 billion and generated $1.9 billion of quarterly net sales, while alternative/private-market assets also reached a record $21.7 billion. The main drag is the cash franchise. Money-market assets fell $27.0 billion, or 4%, from Q2, and total managed assets declined 3% sequentially despite positive long-term-asset flows. Because money-market assets still supplied 49% of quarterly revenue, that decline matters more than the modest improvement in total assets versus last year. Earnings quality was solid, but the EPS growth was helped by fewer shares and weaker nonoperating income did not disappear. Operating income rose sharply, while investment income fell 86% year over year; the lower share count helped EPS grow 12%, faster than net income. The unchanged $0.38 dividend and $57.4 million repurchase add capital-return support but do not change the operating story. Bottom line: This is a narrow earnings beat with genuinely strong operating leverage and better equity traction, but the business still faces meaningful sequential pressure in its much larger money-market base. The filing advances the diversification story without yet removing the cash-flow dependence.
