CFO departure
Offerpad’s CFO is leaving and an internal controller will serve as interim replacement, adding leadership uncertainty during its platform and AI transition.
Offerpad is trying to scale a broader, multi-solution residential real-estate platform, including marketplace and brokerage channels, while adding AI tools to improve conversion and capital efficiency.
The finance leadership change adds execution uncertainty. Peter Knag stepped down as CFO on October 20, 2026, and will remain only through November 30 as a Senior Advisor to support the handoff. 〔0〕 The filing says the departure was not caused by a disagreement with the company, which reduces the risk of an openly contentious exit, but it still removes the CFO overseeing the next stage of that operating transition.
The internal replacement limits the disruption but does not fully remove it. Andrew Pieper, Offerpad’s controller since 2024 and senior vice president since 2025, becomes interim CFO and principal accounting officer. 〔1〕 His familiarity with the company supports continuity, but “interim” signals that a permanent finance leadership decision remains unresolved.
Bottom line: This is a leadership setback rather than a business-model change. The orderly internal handoff softens the blow, but Offerpad now has to prove its platform and AI scaling plans can advance while replacing a key finance executive.
