Beat — Revenue $14.6B vs ~$13.0B consensus; diluted EPS $0.35 vs ~$0.15
SpaceX earnings beat Q3 expectations, led by a dramatic SI revenue jump and stronger Starlink growth—but infrastructure spending remains enormous.
SpaceX is transitioning from a launch-and-broadband company into an integrated space, connectivity, and Super Intelligence infrastructure platform. Published Q3 expectations were roughly $13.0 billion of revenue and $0.14–$0.15 of EPS, so the reported quarter cleared the benchmark decisively.
The earnings beat was broad, but SI did most of the work. Revenue reached $14.6 billion versus $5.6 billion a year earlier, while diluted EPS was $0.35 versus a $0.36 loss last year (Consolidated Statements of Operations). The key change is mix: SI generated $7.6 billion of quarterly revenue, up 830% year over year, while Connectivity produced $5.2 billion, up 69% (Third Quarter Financial Highlights; SI Segment Operating and Financial Data). That is materially better than the pre-release expectation, not merely a clean execution quarter.
| Metric | Q3 2026 | Q3 2025 | Sequential / external comparison |
|---|---|---|---|
| Revenue | $14,575M (Third Quarter Financial Highlights) | $5,576M (Third Quarter Financial Highlights) | ~$13,000M published consensus |
| Diluted EPS | $0.35 (Consolidated Statements of Operations) | $(0.36) (Consolidated Statements of Operations) | ~$0.14–$0.15 consensus |
| Operating income | $2,791M (Consolidated Statements of Operations) | $(273)M (Consolidated Statements of Operations) | $8,809M Adjusted EBITDA (Reconciliation of Net Income to Adjusted EBITDA) |
| Connectivity revenue | $5,248M (Connectivity Segment Operating and Financial Data) | $3,097M (Connectivity Segment Operating and Financial Data) | +22% sequentially (Connectivity Business Highlights) |
| SI revenue | $7,560M (SI Segment Operating and Financial Data) | $813M (SI Segment Operating and Financial Data) | +195% sequentially; +830% year over year (SI Business Highlights) |
| Total capex | $19,593M (Third Quarter Financial Highlights) | $6,880M (Third Quarter Financial Highlights) | $48,069M nine-month capex vs $13,846M prior year (Consolidated Statements of Cash Flows) |
The surprise is the scale and speed of the SI inflection, though the quarter is not entirely organic. SI solutions and infrastructure revenue was $7.0 billion, versus $359 million a year earlier, and Cursor contributed $608 million after its August 14 closing (SI Segment Operating and Financial Data; Other Key Business Developments). The result validates demand for cloud and compute capacity, but it also means the headline growth is partly acquisition-driven and tied to a business SpaceX has only recently absorbed.
Profitability improved sharply, but the infrastructure buildout is consuming an extraordinary amount of capital. SI swung to $431 million of operating income and $5.0 billion of Adjusted EBITDA, yet SI capex reached $16.4 billion in the quarter and $40.0 billion for the first nine months (SI Segment Operating and Financial Data). The $1.2 billion of acquisition-related share compensation also makes SI's GAAP operating profit look cleaner than its adjusted result alone would suggest. This does not erase the beat, but it makes the quality and repeatability of the earnings mix the central issue.
Starlink remains a strong recurring earnings base rather than an afterthought. Consumer subscribers rose to 13.6 million from 12.0 million sequentially, consumer ARPU increased to $69 from $66, and Connectivity operating income reached $2.4 billion (Connectivity Segment Operating and Financial Data). 〔0〕 That gives SpaceX a growing cash-generating connectivity platform funding a much more capital-intensive SI expansion.
Bottom line: This was a genuine earnings beat, driven by a far larger-than-expected SI contribution alongside accelerating Starlink growth. The business story advanced materially, but the next proof point is whether SI revenue can scale beyond acquisition effects while supporting its massive compute investment.
