Miss — Revenue $546,687 vs ~$1.8 million consensus
NextTrip’s earnings miss badly on revenue as management prioritizes NextTrip Pro and JOURNY TV integration, postponing near-term commercialization.
NextTrip is trying to evolve from a small travel-booking business into an integrated media-to-commerce platform, using JOURNY TV audience, NextTrip Pro advisor distribution and JOURNYGO’s AI-assisted booking funnel to create advertising and travel-transaction revenue. That transition was already visible before this filing through the NextTrip Pro launch and JOURNY TV monetization updates.
The reported quarter was a clear revenue miss, not merely a slow ramp. Q2 revenue fell 28% year over year to $546,687, while the published consensus was approximately $1.8 million. The six-month figure still rose 122% to $1.998 million, but that cumulative growth is backward-looking and does not offset the sharp quarterly shortfall against expectations.
| Measure | Q2 / period ended August 31, 2026 | Comparison or expectation |
|---|---|---|
| Revenue | $546,687 (Financial results) | $757,648 prior year; ~$1.8 million published consensus |
| Six-month revenue | $1,998,422 (Financial results) | $896,475 prior year |
| Deferred revenue | ~$1.2 million (Financial results) | Future fulfillment, not guaranteed near-term revenue |
| Samsung U.S. programmatic advertising revenue | +668% average monthly increase (Advertising and Platform Expansion) | Versus January–June 2026 monthly average |
Management confirms the weakness was intentional, but that does not make it immaterial. The company says it redirected resources toward NextTrip Pro enhancements and the JOURNY TV/GoUSA TV consolidation rather than maximizing existing-quarter sales. 〔0〕 This explains the miss, but it also shows the new platform has not yet replaced the revenue being deferred from legacy offerings.
The operational progress is real but remains mostly pre-revenue evidence. NextTrip completed the JOURNY TV consolidation, finished JOURNYGO’s beta phase and reports a 668% increase in average monthly Samsung U.S. programmatic advertising revenue after changing advertising partners. 〔1〕 However, that metric covers only Samsung U.S. programmatic advertising, does not represent consolidated revenue and supports a projection rather than reported company-wide sales. The more than $5 million direct-sales pipeline is likewise only potential business, not contracted revenue.
The filing shifts the story toward execution risk in the second half. Initial NextTrip Pro rollout, broader JOURNYGO deployment, advisor onboarding, advertising conversion and the first YADA/NextTrip LIVE initiatives are now the proof points that must turn the platform build into actual bookings and monetization. The company also says complete operating expenses, net loss, cash and liquidity will come with the Form 10-Q, so the financial impact of the investment phase is not yet fully visible.
Bottom line: NextTrip has advanced its media and travel infrastructure, but the immediate business result is materially worse than expected: the platform build produced a severe Q2 revenue shortfall before commercialization has proven it can replace lost near-term sales. The event matters because it raises the execution burden on the second-half rollout rather than validating the new model today.
