Commercial-scale batch released — First commercial-scale cGMP batch released for planned Q1 2027 Phase 2b
Phio Pharmaceuticals’ manufacturing update removes a key PH-762 supply risk, but the Phase 2b path still depends on final drug product and regulatory execution.
Phio is a clinical-stage biotech moving PH-762 from a completed Phase 1b study toward a proposed Phase 2b program in cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma, after reporting encouraging response and safety data; its cash runway was previously projected into the first half of 2027.
The filing removes a real execution hurdle. Phio released its first commercial-scale cGMP batch of PH-762 drug substance, with the batch made under specified quality requirements and cGMP processes. 〔0〕 〔1〕 That matters because the company had already disclosed manufacturing development work and a planned Phase 2b path; this update shows the supply chain has produced validated material rather than merely having a manufacturing plan.
This advances readiness, not clinical or regulatory certainty. The drug substance still has to pass through final drug-product completion, and the Phase 2b start remains a company expectation rather than a confirmed trial launch. The filing therefore de-risks manufacturing and timing execution, but does not add new efficacy data, FDA authorization, or evidence that the Phase 2b design has been accepted.
Bottom line: This is a meaningful operational step beyond the prior roadmap, because PH-762 has now reached commercial-scale drug-substance production. It strengthens the path to Phase 2b, while leaving final product completion and regulatory execution as the remaining gates.ಎ
