Beat — Revenue ~$11.0M vs $9.0–10.0M guidance; non-GAAP EPS $(0.14) vs $(0.13)–$(0.17) guide
Enovix earnings beat Q3 guidance, with defense driving growth and the pipeline expanding. But leadership changes and ongoing losses keep the ramp unproven.
Enovix is shifting from a broad battery-commercialization story toward a defense-and-drone ramp, using its South Korean manufacturing base to serve customers seeking non-Chinese battery supply. That strategic direction was already public: the company had previously disclosed a growing Korea pipeline and a capacity expansion aimed at coming online in mid-2027.
The quarter beat its own operating bar. Preliminary revenue was approximately $11.0 million versus Q3 guidance of $9.0–10.0 million, while non-GAAP operating loss of approximately $29.2 million landed near the favorable end of the guided $(29.0)–$(32.0) million range. Non-GAAP loss per share was approximately $(0.14), also within the guided $(0.13)–$(0.17) range. The published consensus was roughly $9.7 million of revenue and $(0.15) of EPS, so this was a modest earnings beat rather than a dramatic profitability inflection.

The business mix is moving toward defense, but the pipeline is not yet revenue. Drone and defense customers represented approximately 70% of Q3 revenue. 〔0〕 The combined drone, defense and industrial pipeline rose 18% to approximately $216 million, while the drone portion rose 48% to approximately $150 million. That is meaningful evidence of customer interest, but the company explicitly says pipeline figures are not orders, backlog, or committed revenue; conversion still depends on qualification, program awards, production timing, and capacity.
Capacity investment makes the opportunity more actionable, but adds an execution hurdle. Enovix is investing $19 million to double Korean plant capacity. The move addresses a real bottleneck as defense demand grows, and management says early-Q4 revenue has already exceeded the entire Q3 total. However, the filing still describes samples, qualifications, design wins, and purchase orders as the next steps—not a booked production backlog. Cash of approximately $512 million provides room to fund the buildout, while capital spending was below the prior quarter’s guide.
The leadership reset signals that commercialization, not just technology, is now the central problem. Steve Bakos becomes chief revenue officer and general manager with full P&L responsibility, while new leaders take charge of strategy, supply chain, manufacturing partnerships, and government sourcing compliance. The appointments are directionally consistent with the defense ramp, but they also show Enovix is reorganizing around converting interest into orders and shipments. The company will provide the first reported accomplishments from its cost-reduction plan with the full Q3 results on November 12. 〔1〕
Bottom line: This is a genuine but measured step forward: revenue and EPS beat expectations, and defense demand is becoming the company’s clearest commercial engine. The bigger test remains converting the $216 million pipeline into recurring production revenue while scaling capacity and reducing losses.
