Pulse Biosciences completes AF trial enrollment three months early

Enrollment complete — 164 evaluable patients across 15 sites; three months ahead of original 9-month timeline

Pulse Biosciences’ NANOPULSE-AF enrollment is complete ahead of its original timeline, but the key efficacy and safety readout still lies ahead.

Pulse Biosciences is moving its nPulse nanosecond pulsed-field ablation platform from encouraging early feasibility data into pivotal U.S. testing for atrial fibrillation; management had already targeted NANOPULSE-AF completion in early Q4 2026, while the broader program is aimed at building evidence for eventual commercial preparation.

The trial has cleared its enrollment hurdle ahead of the original schedule. NANOPULSE-AF enrolled 164 evaluable patients across 15 clinical sites. 〔0〕 Management says that happened three months ahead of its original nine-month timeline. 〔1〕 Because the company had already guided to completion in early Q4, the date itself is mostly confirmation; the modest upside is execution speed rather than a new clinical result.

This advances the program operationally, not clinically. Enrollment gives Pulse the full pivotal cohort needed to generate the safety and effectiveness dataset, but it does not yet establish that nPulse works or is safe in the intended population. Primary endpoints will be assessed at six and 12 months after ablation. 〔2〕 The earlier feasibility study showed encouraging 6- and 12-month outcomes, but this larger, non-randomized pivotal study remains the regulatory and commercial proof point.

The next value-bearing milestone is follow-up data, not enrollment. Pulse says it will update the study as patients complete follow-up and expects to present pivotal data at a future medical society conference. 〔3〕 Until then, the filing reduces execution risk and shortens the path to results, but leaves the central clinical question unanswered.

Bottom line: This is a clean execution win that moves nPulse into the evidence-gathering phase, but it is not a clinical readout. The business story improves modestly because enrollment finished on schedule or better; the consequential test remains the six- and 12-month data.
