The quarter came in ahead of the standing estimate. Published expectations were roughly $331 million of revenue and $1.08–$1.09 of adjusted EPS; Haemonetics delivered $339.4 million and $1.14, or about 2.5% and 5% above those benchmarks, respectively.
| Metric | Q1 FY27 | Q1 FY26 | Change / expectation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Revenue | $339.4M | $321.4M | +5.6%; above published consensus of roughly $331M |
| Organic revenue growth | 5.9% | — | Above prior company guidance range of 3–6% |
| Adjusted EPS | $1.14 | $1.10 | +3.6%; above published consensus of roughly $1.08–$1.09 |
| Reported EPS | $0.72 | $0.70 | +2.9% |
| Adjusted operating margin | 23.4% | 24.1% | Down 70 basis points |
| Operating cash flow | $52.3M | $17.4M | Up $34.9M |
| Free cash flow | $39.1M | $2.5M | Up $36.6M |
Growth was broad enough to support the beat. Plasma grew organically 8.2% and Blood Management Technologies 8.1%, while Interventional Technologies returned to 2.8% organic growth; total organic revenue growth was 5.9% (Revenue Analysis by Business Unit). That is stronger than the prior full-year organic-growth framework and reduces concern that the recovery depends on only one business.
The earnings quality was less clean than the headline suggests. Adjusted operating income fell 2.2% and adjusted operating margin contracted to 23.4% as personnel and freight costs rose (Adjusted Measures Reconciliation). Reported net income declined 3.0% to $33.0 million because the tax rate rose to 30.6%, while higher interest expense also weighed on earnings (Income Statement). In other words, the EPS beat came alongside limited underlying operating leverage rather than accelerating margins.
The most important incremental positive was the guidance increase. Full-year reported revenue guidance rose from 4–7% growth to 5–8%, and organic-growth guidance increased from 3–6% to 4–7%; adjusted-margin expansion and roughly 80% free-cash-flow conversion were maintained (Total Company Guidance). That is a genuine improvement versus what had been assumed, although the unchanged margin target means management is raising the growth outlook without raising its profitability ambition.
Cash generation improved sharply, but the quarter benefited from timing. Operating cash flow and free cash flow surged, primarily because of favorable receivables collections and lower equipment transfers rather than a comparable increase in net income (Cash Flow statement). The company also repaid $51.6 million of borrowings, leaving cash at $223.4 million (Balance Sheet; Cash Flow statement). Net, the estimate beat plus higher revenue outlook outweigh the margin pressure, producing a moderate positive read.
