FactSet is shifting from a traditional financial-data provider toward AI-embedded workflow and enterprise intelligence products, with recent investment in AI partnerships and delivery capabilities. This filing says that transition is producing commercial traction, but not yet clean margin expansion.
| Metric | Q4 FY26 | Year ago / guidance | Read |
|---|---|---|---|
| Revenue | $634.7M | $596.9M; ~$636.1M consensus | Roughly in line |
| Adjusted diluted EPS | $4.52 | $4.05; ~$4.35 consensus | Beat |
| Organic revenue growth | 7.1% | 5.0%–6.5% FY26 guidance | Above guide |
| Organic ASV growth | 7.0% | $2.568B organic ASV | Strong recurring-demand signal |
| Adjusted operating margin | 33.0% | 33.8% | Down 80 bps |
| FY27 revenue guidance | $2.600B–$2.625B | FY26 actual $2.476B | 5.0%–6.0% growth |
| FY27 adjusted EPS guidance | $19.25–$19.65 | FY26 actual $18.01 | 6.9%–9.1% growth |
The quarter beat the earnings bar, mainly through EPS rather than revenue. Adjusted diluted EPS of $4.52 exceeded the published consensus near $4.35, while revenue was close to the roughly $636 million estimate. The beat was helped by a lower share count and was not a clean acceleration in profitability: adjusted operating margin fell to 33.0% from 33.8% as compensation and technology costs rose. 〔0〕
The underlying subscription engine is stronger than the headline GAAP numbers suggest. Organic ASV reached $2.568 billion, up 7.0%, and annual ASV retention stayed above 95%; FactSet also said AI-solutions ASV more than doubled during fiscal 2026. That supports the AI monetization story, although the direction was already visible from prior-quarter disclosures, making the incremental news the pace and scale rather than the existence of demand.
The main weakness is operating leverage, not demand. GAAP operating margin dropped to 24.7% from 29.7%, and full-year GAAP operating income declined 6.5% despite 6.7% revenue growth. 〔1〕 Adjusted margins also contracted, so the cost pressure is not entirely explained by one-time items.
FY27 guidance keeps growth intact but leaves the margin-recovery case unfinished. The company is targeting $2.60–$2.625 billion of revenue and $19.25–$19.65 of adjusted EPS, implying continued mid-single-digit sales growth and faster adjusted-EPS growth. There is no reliable published consensus in the filing context for those full-year targets, so the guide is best read as a continuation of the existing trajectory—not a substantiated upside surprise.
Capital returns remain aggressive while cash balances decline. FactSet repurchased $644.0 million of stock during fiscal 2026 and returned $808 million to shareholders, while free cash flow rose 14.6% to $707.5 million. That supports per-share growth, but year-end cash and equivalents fell to $233.3 million and current debt stood at $499.4 million.
Bottom line: This is a modest earnings beat backed by healthy recurring demand and accelerating AI adoption. The business is progressing, but the filing does not yet show that growth is translating into expanding margins; FY27 guidance keeps that question open.
