No reliable published consensus was available for Adjusted OIBDA or free cash flow, so the cleanest anchor is the company’s prior-year performance and the expectations it had set after Q1. Against that bar, this is a mixed quarter: cash generation improved sharply, but revenue momentum is still weak and leverage edged higher.
The operating recovery is real but modest. Q2 revenue rose 1% as reported but was flat on a rebased basis, while Adjusted OIBDA increased 5% reported and 3% rebased. That is better than the first-quarter decline in profitability, but not a broad-based growth acceleration: Liberty Caribbean and C&W Panama both saw rebased OIBDA decline, while Puerto Rico and Networks provided the main support. Cash flow is the strongest part of the release, but the headline overstates the improvement. Q2 Adjusted FCF swung to $58 million from negative $41 million, and H1 Adjusted FCF improved by roughly $168 million year over year before considering the company’s new preferred-share distributions. However, H1 still ended slightly negative at $(6) million after $25 million of distributions, so the business has not yet demonstrated substantial recurring free cash flow after all cash claims. Higher investment absorbed most of the operating improvement. Property and equipment additions climbed 19% in Q2 to $179 million, leaving Adjusted OIBDA less property additions down 3% to $258 million. That means the improvement in reported profitability did not translate into stronger operating cash economics before working-capital and financing effects. The strategic Amdocs agreement is potentially meaningful, but not yet earnings. The 10-year IT partnership is expected to deliver more than $250 million of NPV and could support future cost reduction, but the filing provides no annual savings schedule, implementation costs, or timing for the benefits. It therefore improves the medium-term efficiency narrative without changing current-quarter results. (Exhibit 99.2; CEO commentary)
Balance-sheet progress is limited. Consolidated net debt rose to $7.8 billion from $7.7 billion, net leverage increased to 4.6x from 4.5x, weighted average borrowing costs rose to 6.9% from 6.7%, and average debt tenor shortened to 4.0 years from 4.2 years. Improved liquidity and $864 million of unused borrowing capacity help, but the filing does not show a meaningful deleveraging event. (Consolidated Leverage and Liquidity Information)
Net read: better than the weak prior-year cash baseline, but not a clean fundamental beat. The filing supports a modestly improved operating trajectory and a substantial cash-flow recovery, helped by cost savings and lower unusual charges. Yet rebased revenue remains flat, capex is heavier, H1 free cash flow is still negative after distributions, and leverage has not improved. The result is best characterized as stabilization with upside from the Amdocs program—not a decisive acceleration.
