The quarter cleared the earnings bar, not the growth bar. Published expectations called for roughly $3.08 of adjusted EPS and $2.09 billion of revenue; PVH delivered $3.70 and $2.097 billion, respectively. Revenue was still down 3% year over year, exactly within the company’s 3%-to-4% guidance range, so the cleanest surprise was profitability rather than demand.
| Metric | Q2 2026 | Q2 2025 / expectation | Read |
|---|---|---|---|
| Revenue | $2.097B (Financial Highlights) | $2.167B prior year; ~$2.09B consensus | Slightly above consensus, down 3% year over year |
| Non-GAAP EPS | $3.70 (Table 1) | $2.52 prior year; ~$3.08 consensus | Clear beat |
| Non-GAAP EBIT | $233M (Table 2) | $178M prior year | Up 31%, but helped by tariff refunds |
| Gross margin | 63.0% (Financial Highlights) | 57.7% prior year | Up 530 basis points, including tariff benefit |
| GAAP EPS | $(2.23) (Income Statement) | $4.63 prior year | Driven by $439M goodwill impairment |
The EPS beat was real, but unusually assisted. Non-GAAP EBIT rose to $233 million from $178 million, yet the company said the quarter included a $107 million tariff-refund benefit that lifted operating margin by approximately 510 basis points. Excluding that temporary benefit, the underlying improvement looks much narrower, especially as marketing and brand investment increased.
Brand demand remains uneven rather than broadly recovered. Calvin Klein revenue fell 7% in constant currency, while Tommy Hilfiger was approximately flat; total direct-to-consumer revenue was flat in constant currency despite digital commerce growth. EMEA declined 6% and wholesale fell 6% in constant currency, leaving the reported revenue beat too small to signal a meaningful acceleration in the core business.
The balance sheet is sturdier, but the impairment is a warning about valuation pressure. Cash increased to $966 million from $249 million a year earlier, while debt was broadly stable at roughly $2.25 billion (Balance Sheet). However, PVH recorded a $439 million noncash goodwill impairment tied primarily to changed geopolitical and macroeconomic valuation assumptions. It does not reduce current-period cash earnings, but it signals that the market value assigned to part of the brand portfolio has weakened.
Full-year expectations were reaffirmed, making the net read a beat rather than an outlook upgrade. PVH maintained its revenue, gross-margin, operating-margin, and EPS outlook on a non-GAAP basis. 〔0〕 The filing therefore improves confidence in near-term execution versus the quarter’s consensus, but it does not raise the bar for the rest of 2026; the key question is whether profitability can hold once the tariff refund benefit fades.
