The quarter cleared a modest market bar. Published expectations were roughly $0.32 of quarterly EPS and $3.55 billion of revenue; Estée Lauder delivered $0.39 of adjusted EPS and $3.627 billion of sales, making this a beat rather than merely a recovery against last year.

| FY2027 organic sales outlook | 3%-5% | — | Reaffirmed |
The earnings beat was supported by real operating improvement, not just accounting noise. Fourth-quarter organic sales rose 5%, adjusted operating income nearly doubled to $267 million, and gross margin expanded to 75.5% from 72.0% (Financial Highlights). The strongest engines were fragrance, up 10% organically for the full year, and Mainland China, up 9% organically; makeup remained the weak spot, with full-year organic sales essentially flat and adjusted operating results falling into a loss (Results by Product Category; Results by Geographic Region). 〔0〕
The most important upside is the FY2027 margin reset. Sales guidance of 3%-5% was already the standing assumption from May, so reaffirming it adds little. The new 12.7%-13.5% adjusted operating-margin range, however, is above the prior 12.5%-13.0% preliminary view and signals that cost savings and operating leverage are arriving faster than previously expected (Outlook). 〔1〕
The recovery is improving, but it is not yet a broad-based growth breakout. North America only returned to growth, makeup was virtually flat, and FY2027 operating cash-flow guidance falls to $1.3-$1.4 billion from $1.77 billion as restructuring payments and working-capital needs rise (Outlook; Cash Flow statement). The company is also taking restructuring charges slightly above the prior $1.5-$1.7 billion range, with roughly 10,000 net position reductions, so the margin uplift still depends on executing a large transformation. 〔2〕
Net read: a genuine beat with a more valuable margin raise, though the sales outlook remains only reaffirmed. Fragrance and China validate the recovery narrative, while the higher margin target improves the earnings trajectory beyond what was already known. The filing therefore lands above expectations overall, with execution of the restructuring and sustained North American and makeup growth now the key tests.
